Restoration Note:
This drain plug is the current version of Fords service replacement drain plug for Fox Body and SN95 Mustangs. Over the years, Ford has superseded this plug through several different part numbers, including D1FZ-6730-B, D4FZ-6730-A, E0FZ-6730-A, E0FZ-6730-B, E5AZ-6730-A, E9DZ-6730-B, F3DZ-6730-A, and F75Z-6730-BA.
This updated design is OE-correct for 1999-2004 4.6L Mustang applications, when Ford revised the oil drain plug to use an O-ring style gasket, which is included with this plug.
The original 1979-1998 drain plug used a very similar design, but featured a metal and rubber seal-style gasket instead. NPD offers the correct replacement gasket under part number M-6734-1 (original) or M-6734-1B (replacement style).
Installation Note:
This oil drain plug is designed for use in both the front and bottom drain locations found on original and replacement-style oil pans. It is also compatible with both styles of oil drain plug gaskets, making it a versatile solution for a wide range of Fox Body and SN95 Mustang applications.
