From 197982, Ford utilized a two-piece system consisting of an upper and lower cable. This design was later updated to a single-piece cable with the speed control integrated at the transmission. The cable offered here represents the correct lower section used in the original configuration, connecting the transmission output to the speed sensor, while an upper cable completes the connection to the back of the speedometer.

- If youre looking for the correct upper cable to complete your installation, NPD has you covered. Use part number M-9A820-3B for the proper upper-style cable.
- Please note: Some replacement cables may be slightly longer than your original units due to the consolidation of original lengths.
- These replacement-style cables do not include the necessary seal/O-ring for proper installation. Use part number 17298-1 for the correct seal.
- When installing your new speed control/speedometer cable, the correct cable lubricant is required. See part number 9A820-2LB for the proper cable lubricant.
